Baptism: What It Feels Like to be Dipped in Water

Dipped in Water

What makes baptism so important in the catholic religion? What does it mean to get baptized as a Catholic? Find out about the importance of Catholic baptism quotes and answers to questions. You can learn more about baptism quotes by reading this article.

What will it feel like?

You may think that being baptized is a very simple thing. All you do is get dunked underwater, right? But it’s not as simple as that.

Baptism is a very significant event in your life and in the life of your church. It is an outward sign of an inward work of grace within you and a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ. So when you’re baptized, you’ll be making a statement to everyone around you, including yourself, about what God means to you and how much He means to you.

It’s important to remember that baptism isn’t just for Christians who’ve already been born again by the Holy Spirit,  it’s also for those who have never been saved before. If that describes you, then baptism may be one of the most important decisions in your life so far.

What happens after the dip.

You’ll feel the water on your skin. The water might feel cool or cold at first, but you’ll soon get used to it.

You’ll hear the sound of the water hitting the tank or pool and splashing around you as well as any music playing in the sanctuary.

You’ll smell something familiar, like chlorine if you’re being baptized at a public pool or lake, or like flowers if it’s at church or another place where scented candles are burning nearby.

You may see people smiling at you from around the edge of the tank or pool, waving and cheering for you as if they were watching their own child take his or her first steps into adulthood. Others may be crying because they’re so happy for you, not just because they’re proud of what you’re doing but because they know how much God loves them too.

How do I find the right place to be baptized?

If you’re looking to be baptized as an adult and have never been baptized before, it’s important to find a church that practices sprinkling or pouring water over the head rather than total immersion. The reason for this is that some people are afraid of deep water and don’t want to be fully immersed in the water.

If you do not know where to go, then ask around. Friends and family might have suggestions for you. If not, then search online for churches in your area and see if they offer baptism services. You may also want to contact your local diocese or parish office for more information about their policies regarding baptism.

Once you have found a place that allows adult baptisms, contact them and ask if they will allow you to schedule an appointment for your baptism service.

When should I go for baptism?

If you’ve been baptized as a baby or child, but haven’t been confirmed, you can still be baptized as an adult. You can also be baptized if you weren’t baptized at all, even if it was hundreds of years ago. If you’re not sure whether you were baptised, talk to your priest or local Catholic chaplain.

You can go for baptism anytime during the year, but most people choose a special day or week in Lent (the six weeks leading up to Easter). This is because Lent is a time of fasting and prayer for Catholics – so it’s a good time to make an extra effort.
